This year we return to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fortyork.ca\/\">Fort York<\/a> to coincide with the unveiling of Luminato&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/thomasandguinevere.com\/\"><em>Encampment<\/em><\/a>, which consists of 200 low-lit tents, each telling a different story from civilian accounts of the War of 1812. Also on the bill:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>drinks, snacks, music, and a special historical cocktail presented by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.campbellhousemuseum.ca\/\">Campbell House Museum<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>an informative display by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scaddingcourt.org\/\">Scadding Court Community Centre<\/a> regarding the potential of &#8220;cargotecture&#8221; and pop-up marketplaces, and<\/li>\n<li>several other charming presentations on what&#8217;s new at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fortyork.ca\/\">Fort York<\/a> and around our city.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For directions please go to <a href=\"http:\/\/TorontoTheGood.org\">TorontoTheGood.org<\/a>. Or to RSVP directly, please fill out <a href=\"http:\/\/events.constantcontact.com\/register\/event?llr=w9tmsffab&amp;oeidk=a07e5ygi3dz3820fbbe\">this form<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In addition celebrating our city, ERA is celebrating some exciting news of its own. <\/strong>First, we have three new specialized staff appointments: <strong>Victoria Angel MA<\/strong>, Dean of School, Willowbank, and Senior Heritage Planner, ERA; <strong>Josh Thorpe MVS<\/strong>, Communication Manager; and <strong>Julie Tyndorf BURPl<\/strong>, Planner.<\/p>\n<p>We also have several professional development successes to announce: <strong>Joey Giaimo<\/strong> is now a licensed Architect, having received his seal at the beginning of 2012; and <strong>Brendan Stewart<\/strong> is now a licensed Landscape Architect, having received his seal at the end of 2011. <strong>Amy Norris<\/strong>\u2019s master\u2019s thesis, \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/bldgblog.blogspot.ca\/2011\/09\/tar-creek-supergrid.html\">Tar Creek Supergrid<\/a>\u201d has attracted attention from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oaa.on.ca\/\">OAA<\/a> awards, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iabr.nl\/EN\/\">International Architectural Biennale of Rotterdam<\/a>, ARUP\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arup.com\/News\/Events_and_exhibitions\/Exhibition_Spaces.aspx\">Phase 2<\/a> gallery in London, and both <em><a href=\"http:\/\/volumeproject.org\/\">Volume<\/a><\/em> and <em><a href=\"http:\/\/brkt.org\/\">Bracket<\/a><\/em> magazines.<\/p>\n<p>In <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/era.on.ca\/blogs\/towerrenewal\/\">Tower Renewal<\/a><\/strong> project news, ERA is collaborating with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.planningalliance.ca\/\">planningAlliance<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unitedway.ca\/\">United Way<\/a>, and the City of Toronto to explore possible zoning amendments to Toronto\u2019s \u201capartment neighbourhoods.\u201d These amendments would allow new and exciting possibilities for small businesses and community projects in Toronto&#8217;s high-rise neighbourhoods throughout the City.<\/p>\n<p>And finally, we are also pleased to announce an upcoming project out east: <strong>Andrew Pruss<\/strong> and <strong>Alana Young<\/strong> will be heading to Newfoundland and Labrador to lead a \u201cculture lab\u201d with a group of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unitedway.ca\/\">Ryerson University<\/a> students. This lab is part of our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eraarch.ca\/2011\/07\/27\/culture-of-outports\/\">Culture of Outports<\/a> project, which explores how architecture can help rethink life in changing cultures and economies.<\/p>\n<p>Please come to Fort York on June 7th to celebrate with us!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When: Thursday, June 7th, 6:30\u201311pm;
