Katie Lee is an Intern Architect with the OAA and holds both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Architecture degree from McGill University in Montreal. Lee’s community-oriented designs weave together the poetic and functional qualities of architecture, exploring how this interplay can inspire people and build meaningful relationships. This interest in community building has led to collaborations with various art collectives, research labs, and grassroot organizations across Canada in Calgary, Montreal, and Toronto. Some of these groups include the Facility for Architectural Research in Media and Mediation, The Commons Inc., Yolkless Press, and POCWOC to name a few.

Katie brings to ERA a decade’s worth of experience in research, installations, cultural, and heritage projects. Katie approaches her work, both in architecture and musical practice, with an interdisciplinary understanding of sound, space, and identity. Her most recent research project, A Passage for Change, explores conservation and rituals surrounding grief through daily audio and visual documentation of Toronto’s Humber River. This project was awarded a research grant from the Canada Council for the Arts and is the inspiration for her upcoming debut album, Shifting Mirror. Katie has also released an EP titled Contribution under her Korean name “EEJUNGMI” and hosts a monthly radio show on Montreal’s community radio station n10.as. Katie has previously been a part of several international musical projects and has been nominated for several awards including the Junos, the Polaris Music Prize, and GAMIQ.
