Pinewood Cottage, located on Ojibway Island, represents a respectful reimagining of a site with a rich history. The only remaining feature of the original cottage was a tall, free-standing fieldstone chimney and fireplace from a previous structure —  a compact three-bedroom cottage that had burned down in the early 80s.

The ERA team took on the challenge of recreating Pinewood Cottage, drawing inspiration from interviews with past Club members and through archival research. We designed a floor plan that honored the believed original layout of the previous cottage and referenced local Pointe au Baril cottage architecture while incorporating the existing stone fireplace, water views, ample natural light and ventilation, an airy open floorplan, and contemporary conveniences. This blend of history, research, and design pays tribute to the cottage’s past while offering a renewed space for future generations to enjoy.
