Granite Pines Retreat is a striking three-bedroom seasonal retreat, tucked among a quiet community of low-lying islands on the western edge of the Georgian Bay archipelago. Surrounded by windswept pines, shimmering water, and timeless granite stone, the cottage blends seamlessly into the rugged northern landscape.

Drawing inspiration from the traditional Canadian cottage typology, the design brings a fresh, modern sensibility while remaining deeply respectful of its setting. The exterior is clad in locally sourced cedar, chosen to weather gracefully over time and harmonize with the natural textures around it. Inside, heavy timber framing defines the vaulted interior spaces, echoing the craftsmanship of classic northern construction.

With waterfront views on three sides and a forested backdrop to the rear, the cottage is thoughtfully oriented: bedrooms face east to greet the rising sun, while the dining area opens westward to capture the warm, golden light of sunset. This intentional layout celebrates the rhythm of cottage life, guided by the natural arc of the day. Skylights channel sunlight deep into the heart of the home, creating moments of surprise and serenity, and gently dissolving the boundary between indoors and out.

Granite Pines Retreat is both a shelter and an experience — a study in the quiet inhabitation of place.
