Grange Park
Grange Park
En Français >Grange Park, a two-hectare public open space south of the Art Gallery of Ontario, is a rare surviving example of an early 19th century former residential estate. Although the grounds have evolved considerably, the terraced, axial and irregular elliptical layout in the Picturesque-Gardenesque style retains a high level of integrity. Today the park serves as a public open space in keeping with its historical association with horticulture, recreation and the arts. Having served public functions since the early 20th century, the Grange has contextual value as an important cultural landmark and cherished civic and recreational space in the heart of its downtown neighbourhood.

For a number of years, ERA has worked with the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) and OCAD University advising on heritage issues related to the site’s adjacent re-development. Starting in 2014, ERA began working closely with the AGO and prime landscape architects, PFS Studio, on the revitalization of Grange Park.

As heritage consultant, ERA worked to conserve the cultural heritage and heritage attributes of Grange Park, including preparing the Heritage Impact Assessment, Cultural Heritage Landscape Management Plan, and provision of cultural heritage landscape services throughout all phases of the project.
