Salman received his Ph.D. with specialization in computational media design from the University of Calgary, and a Master of Science in Architecture, Building Science and Urbanism from Technical University of Delft. His Ph.D. focuses on how the building design and production process could be supported effectively using parametric design and building information modeling (BIM). He has designed and developed a Revit plug-in that supports a constraint-based dimensional customization system and automatic design validation.

Prior to joining the team of ERA Architects, Salman worked with many firms in a BIM managerial role by focusing on the research and development of advanced BIM and digital technologies in the building industry. He also worked in Singapore where he was involved in creating national strategies and guidelines to establish and support the effective and sustainable technical operation within an ecosystem of stakeholders as part of the Virtual Singapore project. Upon his relocation to Toronto, he has an academic role at Daniels Faculty, the University of Toronto, where he teaches technology stream courses focusing on BIM and advanced computer technology in architecture.
