Ulisses Munarim
Ulisses is a heritage professional with experience in Canada and Brazil working for architectural firms, governmental bodies and international, national and local non-governmental organizations that promote heritage conservation. As a registered architect and urban planner in Brazil, holding a master’s degree in history and architecture of the cities and a Ph. D. in engineering, Ulisses has a multidisciplinary background surrounding both the theoretical and technical aspects of heritage conservation.
Having begun his career in the Brazilian federal government, Ulisses has had the opportunity of working with a wide range of heritage specialists and stakeholders, leading and participating in projects of different scales, ranging from historic building conservation projects to the planning and management of historic sites, cultural landscapes and cultural routes. Since 2013, Ulisses has been a member of Docomomo Quebec’s Research Committee.
Ulisses is particularly interested in the preservation of existing buildings for their environmental value in a life cycle approach, along with the management of change to provide continuing or new uses within historic buildings.
