Jane (she/her) is a member of the urban planning team at ERA Architects and contributes to projects in the development realm across the City of Toronto. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Geography and Urban Studies from the University of Toronto and a Master of Planning from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson). Her first foray into archival research and heritage planning was through exploration of the Toronto Caravan Festival as research fellow at the Jackman Humanities Institute. Her interest further developed through her work with the Toronto Ward Museum, where she recorded oral histories of immigration and settlement with community members of Toronto’s suburban neighbourhoods.

Equipped with an understanding of the layered histories and tensions inherent to planning and development, Jane’s practice applies an equity-seeking, anti-oppressive lens to the intersections of community building and heritage preservation. Her prior public-sector and client-based work uses planning as a tool to build inclusive and accessible neighbourhoods for people of all ages and abilities. Within heritage planning, her interest lies in applying adaptive re-use as a method of developing more sustainable and resilient communities.
