David Ruel

David est un conseiller en patrimoine détenant plus d’une quinzaine d’années d’expérience à travailler dans l’industrie de la construction. Ayant occupé des postes en tant que charpentier, chef d’équipe, estimateur et gestionnaire de chantier, David a eu la chance de travailler pendant 5 ans en Ontario, de 2013 à 2018, y apprenant le cadre régissant l’industrie de cette province. Il géra sa propre compagnie en tant qu’entrepreneur général, de 2013 à 2022. Même si se spécialisant majoritairement dans les projets résidentiels, David eut l’opportunité à travers les années de travailler sur différents types de chantier, qu’il soit commercial, institutionnel ou même industriel.

David possède un baccalauréat en histoire spécialisé en histoire médiévale et antiquité d’Université de Montréal (2006). Il termine aussi une maîtrise en conservation du patrimoine bâti (2022) à Université de Montréal.

Il est membre d’ICOMOS Canada depuis 2021 et agit en tant que marguiller pour la fabrique du Sacré-Cœur-de-Montréal, situé au 2000 Alexandre-de-Sève depuis 2021. Il eut l’opportunité d’être présent durant les phases finales des travaux de réfection de l’Église et de son chemin couvert.

Alliant un profil académique et technique, David s’intéresse particulièrement aux techniques constructives patrimoniales et à la façon de les arrimer dans des projets contemporains. Sa connaissance de l’industrie lui permet aussi d’aborder des projets à multiples contraintes en trouvant des solutions concrètes applicables aux divers chantiers.

David Ruel is a heritage professional with more than fifteen years of experience in the construction industry. Having been a carpenter, lead carpenter, estimator and site supervisor, David had the chance to work in Ontario for five years (2013-2018) learning in the process the existing structures within the province. He managed his own company, as a general contractor, from 2013 to 2022. Even though his expertise is mainly in residential projects, David had the opportunity to work on commercial, institutional and industrial projects during his career.

David did his undergrad at the University of Montreal (2006) obtaining a bachelor’s degree in history with a specialization in medieval and antique history. He is currently completing a master degree in heritage built conservation at the university of Montreal (2022).

He is a member of ICOMOS Canada and act as a churchwarden for the fabric of the Sacré-Coeur-de-Montréal. He had the opportunity to be present during the final phases of the refection works operated at the Church and its covered hallway.

Allying an academic and technical profile, David is interested in heritage constructive techniques and ways of incorporating them in more contemporary project. His knowledge of the construction industry makes him able to approach complex projects with concrete solutions which allow efficient work.
