Job Posting: Architectural Technologist

Position Summary

ERA Architects (ERA) is currently seeking a talented and experienced mid-level architect or architectural technologist to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a critical technical role in the execution of our custom residential projects which include both new builds, additions and renovations of historic properties. In collaboration with the senior project architect, they will generate custom constructions details, assemblies and schedules to develop characterful and sound architectural details.

Responsibilities

  • Generate construction details and assembly drawings with some supervision;
  • Collaborate closely with the senior project architect in the development of characterful and technically sound details for residential projects which involve new frame structures and connecting new structures to historic masonry buildings;
  • Utilize excellent drafting skills to prepare project deliverables including:
    Assembly of permit sets, construction sets, and performing shop drawing review.
  • Take responsibility to become familiar with the context of work by reviewing and analyzing background reports and technical documents prior to executing tasks;
  • Develops digital architectural models to support architectural designs and presentation materials;
  • Facilitates efficient project workflow with timely and high-quality outputs by understanding the project budget and checking in with the senior project architect.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, college degree in Architectural Technology or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience (no exceptions);
  • Strong interest in and knowledge of heritage architecture, with a commitment to preserving and enhancing historical elements in residential projects;
  • Excellent drawing, drafting and detailing skills;
  • Highly proficient in Auto Cad & Revit, bluebeam and adobe suite;
  • 3-D visualization skills;
  • Ability to leverage state-of-the-art laser measuring and other technological tools to enhance project accuracy and efficiency is considered a strong asset (in house training available);
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code esp Part 9;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken;
  • Works co-operatively and effectively with others inside and outside of the office to set goals and resolve problems;
  • Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills.
