We’re committed to small communities
ERA’s Culture of Outports program evolved into a broader initiative under the name of Culture of Small. Its focus remained on understanding the economic challenges and opportunities facing rural communities, but it expanded beyond outport communities in Eastern Canada to include rural communities across the country.
Ultimately, Culture of Small helped establish and support regional collaborative networks of entrepreneurs looking to leverage natural and cultural local resources — it helped connect unique places with unique people to support diversified cultural economies in rural communities.

To work with academics, researchers and practitioners to deepen our understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Canadian rural communities.
