After years of planning, research, design, and collaboration, WoodGreen’s 444 Logan Avenue has reached an exciting new milestone.
The first prefabricated high-performance façade panels have arrived on site, and installation is now underway, marking the transition from years of planning to on-site transformation for one of Canada’s most ambitious affordable housing retrofits.
Designed to be delivered while residents remain in their homes, the work demonstrates how deep energy retrofits can provide healthier, more comfortable homes with cooling and filtered fresh air, dramatically reduce carbon emissions, extend the life of existing affordable housing, and minimize disruption through innovative panelized construction and exterior-first installation strategies.
Rather than demolishing and rebuilding, 444 Logan is showing how Canada’s existing apartment buildings can be renewed for another generation, improving comfort, resilience and energy performance while preserving affordable homes and avoiding unnecessary embodied carbon. As Canada looks to modernize its existing building stock, it offers a scalable model that places people, performance and climate action at the centre of change.
