The Centre for Urban Growth and Renewal (CUG+R) is pleased to announce the release of two reports examining public health, urban policy, and neighbourhood rejuvenation in Toronto:
- Strong Neighbourhoods and Complete Communities: A New Approach to Zoning for Apartment Neighbourhoods, and
- Toward Healthy Apartment Neighbourhoods: A Healthy Toronto by Design Report
In partnership with United Way Toronto and Toronto Public Health respectively, these reports further research, policy development, and practical strategies to help achieve the potential of Tower Neighbourhood Renewal.
Strong Neighbourhoods and Complete Communities, developed with United Way Toronto, identifies key zoning and policy barriers preventing neighbourhood investment, local economic development, and community initiatives; and proposes alternative policy frameworks to enable positive neigjhbourhood change moving forward.
Toward Healthy Apartment Neighbourhoods, developed with Toronto Public Health, assesses Toronto’s apartment neighbourhoods in relation to eight key health themes, and develops a series of specific design strategies for more healthy, better served, and complete apartment communities across the city.
