Sanford Riley OAA is interested in the relationship between social phenomena and the design of built environment. Prior to joining ERA, he worked for a private land developer and various design firms. In 2006, Sanford completed a Master’s degree in City Design and Social Science at the London School of Economics in London, UK.
Sanford further received his Master of Architecture from the University of Toronto in 2012. His graduate design thesis focused on the changing demographic conditions of inner-city neighbourhoods and new forms of multi-generational housing.
His continued work in architecture and urban design has fostered his interests in broad areas including materiality, site planning, housing, adaptive reuse, and urban design.
