by ERA Architects

Tuesday Aug. 26 at 6 p.m., join us for CONTEMPORARY SITES: new ways of seeing and using Toronto’s cultural landscapes, organized by ICOMOS Canada and the Centre for City Ecology (CCE). ERA’s Michael McClelland and the CCE’s Annabel Vaughan will moderate discussion with a great panel of speakers:

Janna Levitt, Partner LGA Architectural Partners
Robert Kerr, Supervisor, Special Events, Fort York National Historic Site
Franco Boni, General & Artistic Director, The Theatre Centre
Rui Pimenta and Layne Hinton, Artistic Director/Founder and Co-curator/Admin, Art Spin

This panel discussion forms part of an international debate on the shifting role of heritage in contemporary society. While ‘heritage’ and ‘contemporary’ can appear to be at odds with one another, Toronto happens to do ‘old and new’ very well. Here we have a broad range of actors using heritage as a tool for civic engagement, including arts or community-based groups that are activating under-used heritage sites, and well-established heritage institutions that are engaging in new community outreach programs.

RSVP now!
