ERA is pleased to announce that 11 Division of the of the Toronto Police Services (TPS), a project we worked on with Stantec Architecture, has been honored at the 2013 Pug Awards. It won People’s Choice in the Commercial/Institutional category, and it received the Paul Oberman Award for Adaptive Reuse and Heritage Restoration!

This adaptive reuse project began when a group of residents of Carlton Village neighbourhood wanted to save a local school from demolition. The Edwardian masonry building was not designated under the Ontario Heritage Act, but the meaning it held for residents persuaded the City to incorporate the school into a new design.

Following a thorough process collaborating with the community and TPS, ERA and Stantec were able to integrate the heritage fabric into a successful new campus including Police facilities, community facilities, and landscaped public space.

Congrats Stantec and thanks OAA!
